The factory for primary wool processing was founded in1875 year at the bank of the river Uda. Wool scouring was carried out by the cold method that time so that wool was put in the baskets and was washed in the river manually. The wool was dried on the grass or on the pegs.
After the revolution the factory was nationalized and called “The first wool-scouring factory of UKRTEXTILTREST”. At these years the mechanization of working process started — wool-scouring machines and the equipments for wool pressing were installed.
During the war the factory was partially evacuated to Semipalatinsk where the wool production very necessary for manufacturing of greatcoat fabrics and boots was proceeded.
During Kharkov occupation the factory was completely destroyed and burnt. After Kharkov liberation in 1943 the reconstruction of the enterprise started. In 1944 the enterprise started producing wool for textile industry of the country.
The factory has come through the difficult way of development. New industrial buildings were built, the reconstruction, modernization and exchange of the equipments were made.
On October 18, 1993 the factory was registered as CJSC «Kharkov -Wool». This name has remained till nowadays. For the last decade the enterprise has passed the difficult way of development because of the USSR break-up and the change of the state ownership form for the private one. Despite of it the company administration has saved the working peculiarities of the enterprise and the professional staff of wool processing industry which is constantly renewing. At the factory new technologies of manufacturing processes for products quality improvement are constantly worked out and applied, new equipments are bought, the modernization of present main and additional equipments is carried out; new directions for products range expansion are developed. For the short period of time the enterprise has not only renewed the partnership with Ukrainian textile manufacturers but also established long-term partnership with the manufacturers of the former Soviet countries and the far foreign countries.
From 1993 the corporation “Kharkov - Wool” begun to develop as a diversified textile manufacturing and commercial enterprise.
That year the production of home textile such as blankets, bed sheets and pillows was adjusted.
In 1996 the sales department of coat and departmental fabrics started working.
From 2002 the production and selling of sintepon (TM “Stirol”) were adjusted and also new equipments for providing with the service of sintepon quilting on the lining with needle-punched and ultrasonic skitch were installed.
In 2006 the sewing workshop for overcoat producing was opened.
In 2008 “Trading house “Ukrtex” was founded: selling of cotton, technical and printed fabrics.
